Ufomammut is a power trio formed in 1999 in Italy by Poia, Urlo and Vita.
Ufomammut is worldwide recognized as the creator of a unique brand of psychedelic sludge.
With long songs, droning vocals and massive effects the band combines a monumental riffing attitude with the psychedelia of the more visionary Pink Floyd.
ORO is the title for Ufomammut’s latest work, divided into ten massive movements overall which is now confirmed to be delivered in two separate pieces during 2012: the first chapter, Opus Primum, in April, and the second, Opus Alter, in September.
Oro explores the concept of knowledge and its power; the magical stream controlled by the human mind to gain control of every single particle of the World surrounding us. Oro is the alchemical process to transform the human fears into pure essence; into Gold.
Although Oro’s two chapters will be released months apart from each other, they must be considered as a single track in which the musical themes and the sounds show up and hide, mutating and evolving, progressively and increasingly stratifying culminating in the crushing final movement.
Ufomammut has performed at international music festivals like Roadburn, Hellfest, Asymmetry, Stoned from the Underground, South of Mainstream, Metalride fest and has shared the stage with bands such as NEUROSIS, DOWN, BARONESS, MOTORPSYCHO, ORANGE GOBLIN and many more. Ufomammut’s live show is supported by the internationally acclaimed video and graphic art of Malleus, a rock artists’ collective who conjure the entirety of Ufomammut’s visual impact.
Doomina was formed in 2006. After a demo and 2 EPs, their Debut LP “Elsewhere” was recently released on vinyl.
Bluring the genre-restrictions of post rock and sludge, Doomina are creating soundscapes on a grand scheme. Keep an eye and ear on these Southern Austrians, since they´re destined for great things…
In late 2011, Relapse Records announced the signing of North Carolina’s finest psychedelic, stoner-punks ASG! Impossible to pigeonhole, ASG has been wheelin’ and dealin’ in kick-ass rock n’ roll since forming in 2001. The band has previously released four albums with including their most recent, critically acclaimed effort Win Us Over in 2007. ASG has gained a reputation for their wildly energetic live shows, and has found themselves on the road with heavy-hitters Motorhead, The Sword, CKY, Fu Manchu, Torche and The Dwarves among others.
ASG plan to enter the studio in February 2012 to record their highly anticipated Relapse debut with producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Hatebreed, Fu Manchu).
Avalanche from Vienna, Austria is a hardcore band with a strong tendency towards stoner and doom-metal. Since their inception roughly 2 years ago they played a bunch of shows and released on Green Menace Records.

After opening for Brant Bjork and The Bros and their first headlining show Been Obscene will embark on a Roadtrip To Outta Space once again. The 4-piece from Salzburg, Austria is signed to Elektrohasch Records and turned heads in the international Stoner- and Psychedelic-Rock scene, releasing two full length LP within two years.
“Been Obscene has shown an impressive amount of development – the instrumentalization has moved up a few notches at once, the drumming has taken a flying leap forward and the psychedelic and post-rock pastures are spread more evenly and enhances the flavor quite a bit. The album is much more vocal-driven than the previous one, but that doesn’t mean the instrumental passages have lessened. In fact, the instrumental passages have, if anything, grown more complex, with at least two instances of multi-layered, psychedelic pastures being explored in what are otherwise pretty straightforward songs. This provides the record with enough dynamism to engage you, but keeps it from going places that will lose you on the way – and, might I add, the atmosphere built is a lot darker and more brooding than you’d expect….”

Prototyper from Vienna, Austria are on a mission to rock!
“Stefan and Martin first met at local gigs in Vienna in 2009 and soon found out they shared a good taste in music. In the summer of 2010 the two of them started jamming on a regular basis. Songs started to take shape but a bass-player was still missing. After jamming with a few people, Joey came into the picture in early 2011 and it just clicked. Prototyper was born and 2 months later we played our first gigs.”
Southern Lord recently announced a deluxe reissue of one of the towering achievements in metal history, Dopesmoker by Sleep.
For the 2012 reissue, there are some very notable changes. The original studio tapes have been remastered, presenting the album as the band had originally intended. The audio is clearer, louder, and at last brings a true representation of Sleep‘s hour-plus Weedian chronicle.
Exclusive to this Southern Lord edition is brand new artwork by longtime Sleep artist Arik Roper, who crafted something truly special and consciousness-expanding for the album’s rebirth.
OM have announced the follow up to 2009′s God is Good, a five song suite entitled Advaitic Songs, will be issued via Drag City on July 23rd, 2012. Where God is Good was the first step in a more ornate and sophisticated direction for Om, Advaitic Songs achieves a level of composition that would’ve been impossible to foresee.
Advaitic Songs maintains the singularity of purpose that informs the core sound of OM, yet every element reaches further than before. Whatever drone-doom genre that had been hoisted on the duo in years past has been decimated by the sheer imagination, expansive quality, and meticulously detailed arrangements of this new album.
For a band that has continually followed its own course, and stood alone in its sound and approach, Advaitic Songs for certain, is the band’s most focused, progressive document.
OM will be playing Arena´s Small Hall into the ground alongside San Francisco´s Drone-Wizards Barn Owl on April 26th 2012.
Don not sleep on it.
New Jersey’s Chris Kosnik, Finn Ryan and Bob Pantella first started plotting their musical careers back in the mid ‘90s, influenced by ‘70s rock and groups ranging from Black Sabbath to Parliament and Funkadelic. All three members were simultaneously playing for major labels in separate bands: Godspeed (Atlantic), Monster Magnet (A&M) and Core (Atlantic). The Atomic Bitchwax slowly evolved for 15 years as a players’ band with the enduring vision to “play what you want.” Their music is a mix of ‘60s psychedelic rock and ‘70s riff rock filtered though the progressive rock influences of today.
